Hayden Loses Her First Tooth!

Hayden has wanted to lose a tooth ever since her friend Savannah lost her first tooth.  We first noticed her wiggly tooth the same day as her surgery.  The anesthesiologist asked if she had any loose teeth and she replied "yes" while I shook my head "no."  Then that night I was brushing her teeth and she kept saying that I was hurting her tooth.  So I looked at it and sure enough it was a little wiggly!  On December 6th Hayden decided she had waited long enough, so when she was getting babysat at the Housers she asked Zach (a pediatric dentist) to pull it out.  He said afterwards that it would have come out in a few more weeks on it's own.  Here is the proud girl:

She doesn't look very excited in this picture, but she really was.  The tooth fairy left her $1!  She was beyond thrilled!

12 Month Old Stats

Reid had his 12 month check up and he continues to be a big boy!

Height: 31 inches 88 percentile
Weight: 24 lbs 86 percentile

  • He has zero interest in walking at this point, but crawls very fast!  On December 4th he started to pull up in his crib more and on furniture and about 2 weeks later started to cruise around a bit
  • On December 4th he also became interested in the stairs and started going up them
  • He loves to make high pitched noises (Hayden always says, "Oh Reid that's such a cute noise.")
  • He loves to give the "stink eye" it's turned into a game he loves to play
  • For a few days he preferred dad to mom.  When I would try and take him, he'd turn towards dad and snuggle him!
  • Loves to clap and high five
  • First word which happened a few months back: "hot" and he likes to bark like a dog and oink like a pig.  He will also say, "b" for "ball"
  • Reid got his 5th tooth on November 22nd
  • He loves to get into the spices box (still haven't found a spot for them yet) and we have to make sure to get the dishwasher closed or he sits in it!
  • Reid also loves the downward dog yoga position, this makes us giggle every time he does it!

Thanks goodness these pictures are done because it was getting so hard to take them!  This kid is always on the move and does not like to sit for long periods of time.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of Reid taken just before he turned 11 months old

Reid's 1st Birthday

People say it all the time, but time really does fly by.  I can't believe my baby boy turned one!  Reid really made it easy to love being a mom.  He has been the most easy going, content little baby and I am lucky to be his mom!

I decided to do a truck/car theme party because he LOVES wheels of any kind (Dr. chair wheels, vacuum wheels, bike wheels, etc).  Moving was kind of crazy so a week before the party I decided I better get going and plan out a few things.

The day before Hayden and I made cakes.  We were happy with how they turned out!

When he woke up we walked through his door which was full of streamers, he thought that was pretty cool.  We also let him play with the gift my mom got him while I made ebilskevers for breakfast.  While Hayden was at preschool, I took him on a long walk since one of his favorite things is to be outside! That night we had "brinner" because the boy loves eggs.

Paul's cousin and her husband already had plans for the evening, but their kids were free!  It was nice having some family around to celebrate with us.

Opening presents.  He loved anything that resembled a ball!

I think he was still a little full from dinner and he was very interested in the trucks and Reese's.  He eventually did dig in, but we only videoed and got no pictures :(

Happy Birthday Reid man, we all love you so much!

Thanskgiving

What a crazy time to move!  Before we knew it Thanksgiving was here.  Paul's cousin's family, the Housers, were kind enough to let us enjoy Thanksgiving with them.  I made a sweet potato cheesecake, grape salad, my grandma's rolls, carrot souffle, and a veggi tray.

Reid's 1st Thanksgiving!  He slept through it and woke up at the end.  He ate lots of the food, more than Hayden has tried in her 5 years of life!

It was freezing cold outside, but that didn't stop Hayden from playing outside with cousins.

That night we did some Black Friday shopping, played games, ate pie, it was a nice day.

Moving In

We walked through our home Friday, November 14th around 9 am and then that afternoon we signed all the documents and closed on our house.  Paul's cousin Amie, was kind enough to watch the kids so that we didn't have to bring them to closing!  Our movers arrived that afternoon but we all decided to start unloading first thing the next morning.  Friday night Hayden was playing and fell and had her front tooth pierce her lower lip!  It looked painful and she was pretty somber all night.  Amie's husband, Zach is a pediatric dentist, so it was wonderful having him there to take a look at Hayden's mouth.  Reid was also on antibiotics because he had a double ear infection that I caught the day before we flew to Omaha.  The flight was NOT very fun with poor Reid.  Paul's mom Anne also arrived Saturday afternoon, so it was a crazy day!  The unloaded all day Saturday and Sunday.  They were really nice men, who did an excellent job!  It felt weird not having them around once they left.

Anne was so helpful in taking care of the kids while I unpacked for several hours each day.  We did lots of Christmas shopping and birthday shopping while she was here and she baked way too many goodies for us.

We celebrated a bit for Reid's birthday and let him open Grandma Anne's gift: Little People Zoo

He loves playing with toys while laying down!

We sang happy birthday and everyone ate cupcakes including Reid!

It was great to have Anne here because she also helped us not feel so homesick for Atlanta. It took me about 2 weeks and I had the house unpacked and a lot of things hung up.  We've not been here over a month and we're pretty much done with everything but the garage!

Leaving Atlanta

I don't even like writing the title to this post.  It still makes me sad and lonely to think about that fact that we packed up our whole house and left Georgia.  We lived there for 4 years which is longer than we have lived anywhere since being married.  We've been gone over a month now and it's still hard some days.  We miss our friends a lot, especially the Heinholds.  We became great friends with them over the past few years, such good friends that we now consider them family. Hayden still cries because she misses her best friend Savannah.  Before we left Atlanta we got these best friend necklaces for the two of them.

Before we left, Stephanie Heinhold was nice enough to throw us a goodbye party.  Here are some pics of the food and festivities...

How cute are these two?  Michael and Reid

On November 8th our movers came and packed for 2 days, loaded for 2 days, drove for 3 days, and unloaded in Omaha for 2 days.  We had the same two men for the entire process and grew to really enjoy their company.  They were great men and very professional movers.  We liked them so much we told them we were definitely requesting them again next time we moved.  Jeff built Hayden a pirate ship to play in, drew pictures on the boxes in her room, let her see inside his big truck...Seriously went above and beyond.

After they loaded everything on Tuesday I began the cleaning process.  Paul and I got most of it done and then that night Stephanie went with me to finish up the last of it.  Here we are saying goodbye to our house.

Tuesday night and Wednesday were spent with our favorite family.  They were so kind to let us sleep at their house, eat their food, and enjoy their company.  On Thursday Stephanie took us to the airport and we said goodbye to Georgia.  Even typing this a month later and tears well up in my eyes.  We have moved 5 times since being married and it never gets any easier.  I get to attached to people and then it's so hard to say goodbye.  Thank goodness for phones!

I know we will grow to love Omaha as well, but we are still mourning the loss of Georgia at the moment!
