"Let's Go To The Movies"

This was the theme of Hayden's first dance recital that took place on May 11, 2013.  She started taking dance lessons (tap and ballet) the fall of 2012 and went through the spring.  They were fitted for their costumes months before the actual performance and received them about 2 months before which was HORRIBLE.  She wanted to wear it everyday and each time I had to explain to her that she couldn't wear it until the recital because we didn't want to get it dirty.  She might have been more excited to wear her costume than for Christmas.  It was an epic moment when it was actually time to get dressed for the recital!

The dance recital took place at the Burnt Hickory Baptist Church which is also where she will go to preschool next year.  Here is a picture with two of her friends from dance. We go to church with Kyla (middle) so they are good little friends.

Hayden was beaming ear to ear once she got on stage and is the performer Paul and I predicted she would be.  She loves to do stuff like this! They danced to "Isn't She Lovely."  I now tease Paul that I'm going to start the beauty pageant circuit!  She would love the costumes and performance, but there is no way Paul and I are cut out for all that.  So we'll just keep her in dance for now.  Her little group did so well during the dress rehearsal, but struggled a bit during the actual performance.  I think they were shocked to see all the people who had come to watch.  But when little kids mess up it seems to be endearing, so it all turned out well.

After the recital all the dancers got to come on stage and receive their trophy and dance around to a silly song.  Hayden of course did not want to leave the stage when it was time to go.

Paul wasn't so sure he wanted Hayden to do dance again, but once he saw how happy and cute she was doing it, I think his opinion changed!
