X-Rays

Paul had the day off (kind of, he still worked from home) on Friday since he has traveled so much so he came with me to get Hayden's x-rays.  It started off great.  Hayden was smiling at all the nurses, waving, blowing kisses, labeling body parts.  She even said, "thank you" when a nurse handed me my receipt.  They all loved her...  Then the screams began!!!  We took off her clothes and she had to stand on a platform.  I had to hold her arms down which she did not appreciate and Paul had to hold her head in place.  She is so strong and would wiggle her way out of our grasp so it took quite a long time to get the x-rays right.  She screamed the whole time and then when it was finally over and I tried to put her clothes on she had a huge melt-down.  SOOOO EMBARRASSING! I don't know how else to say it.  The nurse probably told me 5 times that I could leave as I was trying to put her pants on.  Anyway, they sent the results to Hayden's pediatrician and she said that her tonsils and adenoids are very large.  They don't know if the tonsils are still swollen from strep or not.  But at that point she had been on her steroids and antibiotics for 3 days, so we'll see.  She meets with the ENT doctor on Wednseday.  Her doctor believes they will probably want to take them out, goodbye new floors (or any other home improvement project) hello surgery :)

  1. In the long run you will save so much money on doctor's appointments since Hayden won't get sick as much! Those floors will pay for themselves in no time! :)

  2. oh gosh - meltdowns are so hard. But every kid has them and especially when taking x-rays which are so hard to keep still for. At least they didn't have to sedate her or anything like that! :)
Glad you are getting to the bottom of what is bothering Hayden. She'll do so much better after those adnoids are removed. Does she have to get tubes in her ears too?

  3. Even though I am sure the melt downs were horrific for you it provided me a laugh. All cute and nice and then the beast emerges!

  4. Melt downs in public are so awful. And YOU have no control what.so.ever! but people who don't have little children look at you like you are incapable (at least that is how it feels - I'm sure they aren't really thinking that!)

Glad you had paul there to help you!
